The Amy Foundation, founded in 1976 by W. James Russell and his wife Phyllis, was named after their daughter. The Foundation is best known for its Amy Writing Awards, which is a call to present biblical truth reinforced with scripture in secular, non-religious publications. First prize is $10,000 with a total of $34,000 given annually. It is acclaimed as the most popular journalism contest in the nation.

The Amy Foundation offers a self-contained brochure titled "Becoming A Christ-Centered, Disciple-Making Church" which outlines a biblical plan for discipling our nation. This plan is the latest ministry of The Amy Foundation, and it has the potential to have the most impact. In a sense it summarizes what The Amy Foundation is all about. Done in color and easily readable, the plan is for distribution nationally in churches, through parachurch ministries, in book stores, as well as through The Amy Foundation office. The intent is to get millions of copies of this plan into the hands of Christians across the country. Resource materials will be provided to help individuals and churches implement this plan in their own lives and communities. Copies of the Becoming A Christ-Centered, Disciple-Making Church brochure are available free for distribution at scheduled events such as church services, prayer breakfasts, seminars, workshops, praise gatherings, concerts, retreats, church camps, prison ministries, marriage counseling weekends, and other Christian events where the brochure would be given to each individual attending. For more information, contact The Amy Foundation by phone, email, or in writing.

Other programs of the Foundation include the Church Writing Group effort, which is a call to the latent writers in the church to influence their community through letters to the editor, point of view columns, and book reviews in their local newspapers.

The book Awakening the Giant, written by the president and founder of The Amy Foundation, Jim Russell, presents what Cal Thomas calls "a blueprint for the work of advancing God's kingdom."

Each of the above programs is specifically designed to encourage and equip both professional and non-professional writers to develop and utilize their skills to the reclaiming of America. It is the hope of The Amy Foundation that you will find these pages helpful and that you will participate with us in fulfilling Jesus' final instructions as stated in The Great Commission.
