CHRISTIAN CLASSICS

The lists of Christian and secular classics often cross. Some wonderfully written classics of the great theologians and storytellers of the past (and present) can inspire both by their content and by the brilliant way they are written.

The Christian Classics Ethereal Library, at http://www.ccel.org/index/classics.html, lists great Christian classics from all ages past. There is no argument that indeed the collection is a hallmark of great theologians. Here are some from the list (with a few more added by our book-loving editors):

» Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
» Great Lion of God by Taylor Caldwell
» My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers
» The Father Brown series by G. K. Chesterton
» Divine Comedy by Dante
» The Robe by Lloyd Douglas
» A Chance to Die by Elisabeth Elliot
» Foxe’s Book of Martyrsby John Foxe
» Narnia Seriesby C.S. Lewis
» Paradise Lost by John Milton
» In His Steps, by Charles Sheldon
» Ben-Hur, by Lewis Wallace
